Job Description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented mid-level Underwriting Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for underwriting Non-Performing Loan (NPL) portfolios, both secured and unsecured, forecasting future outcomes based on ongoing business plan while conducting thorough investment reviews to assess risk and return potential. The role will involve reviewing underwriting guidelines, building predictive models, and prepare bidding offers for the board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and underwrite NPL portfolios, analyzing the creditworthiness of borrowers and the underlying collateral for secured loans.
- Develop and create underwriting models to enhance the assessment and decision-making process.
- Develop and create business plan models to forecast recovery rates and optimize portfolio performance.
- Conduct comprehensive investment reviews, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis and market conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data and support the underwriting process.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and facilitate decision-making.
- Monitor and assess the performance of NPL portfolios, identifying trends and potential risks.
- Stay informed about industry regulations and market developments to ensure compliance and informed underwriting practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in underwriting, particularly with NPL portfolios.
- 3+ years’ experience in underwriting roles with a good understanding of portfolio management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and make informed investment decisions.
- Experience in creating underwriting models.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
